Present The Annual Water Garden And Pond Tour

May 5th and 6th, 2012

This annual event is in the planning stages now. For information on this event or to volunteer to display your pond, please contact the Pond Tour Chairperson or fill out the pond display contact form below. The deadline for submitting your pond is February 29th!

From all members of both the Houston Pond Society, and the Lone Star Koi Club, you are invited to the 2012 Water Garden and Pond Tour. This is a self-guided tour of about 30 of our members private water gardens and ponds. You will see anything ranging in size from small backyard garden ponds, to patio fountains, to the huge multi-pond landscapes, complete with koi ponds, waterfalls, and everything else imaginable in between. These are all residential landscapes and the idea is for guests to come spend a pleasant weekend talking with the homeowners to get their firsthand insight about koi, water gardening, ponds, and landscaping. See how they did it, what they started with, and get their experience about the complete journey. What they would do differently, what their successes (and failures) are, and learn about their enjoyment with the finished product. Actually, they will all tell you these are works in progress and are never really finished. You may just want to visit and let yourself be absolutely delighted at what you will see and how restful and serene these gardens and ponds make you feel. Or, you may also want to get ideas about water gardening and ponds of your own.

This is enjoyable way for the entire family to spend a weekend. Please come visit us. Feel free to ask questions, take photographs, and make yourself comfortable. Get firsthand insight into this fascinating hobby. Just like the people you’ll meet on this tour, each location is different and unique.

Our beautiful gardens and ponds can be toured both Saturday and Sunday the weekend of May 5th and 6th, 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. Tickets are $10 for both days and can be purchased at any of the participating homes.

After March 24, 2012, you may go to either of our web sites www.houstonpondsociety.org or www.lonestarkoi.com to find the home nearest to you, or you may purchase advance tickets at Nelson Water Gardens in Katy. When you buy your ticket you will also get a brochure with a brief description of each pond, a map and driving directions to each home.

Since the city is so spread out, we have divided it into two sections, some ponds are available only on Saturday, and the rest are open Sunday only. So be sure to notice what days which ponds are open.

Please note: This is a display of members' ponds and no commercial activity may be conducted at the ponds. A small sign telling who built the pond is OK, but no sales, advertising or other commercial activity is allowed.
